McTavish Spirits, founded by Scottish actor Graham McTavish, announced its first-ever release, The Warchief, a 7-year-old bottled in bond whiskey.

The Warchief was hand selected by McTavish himself to highlight the American tradition of bourbon history – to honor history while paying homage to the Scottish immigrants that came before to lay the foundation of the American Whiskey making culture, according to a statement by the brand.

The whiskey was sourced from MGP and is a bourbon with a mashbill of 75% Corn, 21% Rye and 4% Malted Barley.

McTavish is perhaps best known for his role as Dwalin in “The Hobbit” film trilogy, along with his many other roles over the years. But the goal at McTavish Spirits is to create a brand that shatters the conventional “celebrity-driven” paradigm.

McTavish Spirits states that its vision is “to create a vibrant community that brings people together over their shared love for whiskey and other spirits.”

“As a Scotsman who grew up dreaming of America, this whiskey is the perfect expression of my own life path and of my love for the true ‘American spirit,’” McTavish said in a news release.

The Bottled-In-Bond Act of 1897 truly shaped the future of American bourbon history. The Warchief is one of the first celebrity brands ever to hit the market with the Bottled-In-Bond designation, according to the brand’s release announcement.

“Graham encompasses both the heritage of Scotland and the quintessential American dream through carving his own path in Hollywood,” Connor Gilbert, Vice President, McTavish Spirits, said. “The Warchief is a premium, complex and nuanced bourbon that will appease both the casual and seasoned whiskey drinker alike.”

The Warchief will be exclusively sold on the McTavish Spirits website ( with a $75 SRP (plus tax and shipping). It will be available in every state except: OK, MI, UT, MA, SD, AK & HI.
